KAISER

PERMANENTE

HOW MIGHT WE SPREAD A NEW MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE NATIONALLY TO 12.3 MILLION PEOPLE?
Project Overview

Project Chamai leverages third party digital health solutions and digital therapeutics to support mental health and emotional wellness.

Currently, Project Chamai is implemented in Oregon and California, touching 4000 members and 500 clinicians. We want to spread project Chamai to the rest of country.

During my internship, I created an exhibit  to showcase the effect and impact of Chamai to spread awareness.

I also conducted ethnographic research to advise business decisions in refining the Chamai ecosystem and gain insights to better train clinicians on these tools.

EXECUTIVE SPEAKER SERIES

Executives from different branches of Kaiser Permanente  spoke to the interns about how their work connects to Kaiser Permanente's mission and vision. We discussed challenges in the nation, where healthcare will grow in the future, and how our work drives change.

GARFIELD EXHIBIT

I created a visual exhibit to spread awareness of Project Chamai with the public and executive leadership at Kaiser Permanente. This exhibit was featured during the CEO's executive leadership conference, where he interacted with the exhibit and learned about the effect of Project Chamai on total mental healthcare.

CHAMAI

VIDEO

I created a video to quickly communicate the effect and impact of Project Chamai.

To produce this video, I connected with the National Leader for Mental Health and Wellness, two Professional Social Workers who interact with patients daily, and a Kaiser Permanente Member to hear first hand stories of how project Chamai impacts their lives.

This video will live next to the Garfield Exhibit and support presentations and conferences on mental health nationally.

SPREAD

PLAYBOOK

Currently, Project Chamai is implemented in Oregon and California, touching 4000 members and 500 clinicians. We want to spread project Chamai to the rest of country.

To spread nationally, our team needs to put together a training package and plan for new regions to understand how to implement Chamai. This is the playbook.

I researched past examples of Kaiser Permanente playbooks and organized an outline of important elements to include for this playbook.

CARING

TOGETHER

Caring together aims to empower adult children to care for their parent in the hospital through telemedicine, from wherever they are.

To assist with this project, I delivered stickers that clearly indicate how to take action after the visit- to be attached to discharge forms. I then shadowed the pilot kick off in a real hospital- and got to observe and learn from the on-the-fly problem solving that took place.

MYSTRENGTH

myStrength is a new Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) based app being offered in the suite of Chamai tools. My role was to conduct ethnographic research with clinicians and Kaiser Permanente members to learn about their experiences using this tool.

From the results of this research, the Chamai team is able to better train clinicians around prescribing myStrength, and the team can better understand which apps to cut- and keep- in the future of refining the suite.
